Social Media Meaning to Me

So this new fangled thing called social media is here but what is it and what does it mean to me?

Social media has actually been around since the inception of the internet. It is just another phrase that has been picked up by the main stream. It is the new buzz word to make people seem to be in the know. All Social media means is that people are communicating in an open environment that facilitates conversations. BBS(bulletin board system)and IRC(Internet Relay Chat), the first true social media, is where this all started in my mind. The only reason it has evolved is due to the ability to use video and graphics to express your opinions or views.

If you want to join the Social Media bandwagon go ahead. Find a site with information that interests you and start posting to the comments and threads that are usually there. If you want to start your own site about something that interests you then by all means go for it. I can help you with this if you are interested. You can do most of it for free or minimal cost if you are willing to do the research and find the right companies, of course if you pay a professional it might go faster as they already know where to go.

Any way social media is here to stay but the bigger question in my mind is what is the next step? Now that we have all these means of communication and ways to consolidate these communications what would be the next logical step to advance our abilities to keep in touch and communicate as a society? Things to ponder on.

Well for my second blog I have definitely brought up some interesting concepts that I now need to run off and research and of course build a website to address. Working on the web

I work on the web. I develop web sites and applications for the internet. There is nothing I am more passionate about. I enjoy it so much that I work at home in my spare time.

So this blog is going to geared toward web development and the things I see in this industry. For my first blog I am basically introducing myself and preparing for the things to come. I hope at some point to not only do this blog but I want to work out some online videos as well.
